A Community Comes Together to Fight Ovarian Cancer
The TerryWhite Chemmart Clyde pharmacy has demonstrated the power of collective action, raising an incredible $6,000 for Ovarian Cancer Australia. This achievement is a testament to the generosity and compassion of the local community.
Over 70 dedicated individuals attended the annual Morning Tea event, held on February 18th. Among them was Holt MP Cassandra Fernando, who actively participated in the initiative, emphasizing the significance of ovarian cancer awareness.
Co-proprietor Carolyn Wynen expressed her gratitude for the community's support, stating, "Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. We are honored to stand with those affected by ovarian cancer and raise awareness for this cause."
But here's where it gets controversial... While the event primarily focused on fundraising, Ms. Wynen highlighted the importance of education and connection. She believes that raising awareness about the early signs of ovarian cancer is crucial, as it can be challenging to detect in its initial stages.
"If our efforts encourage people to learn the symptoms, initiate conversations with loved ones, or seek medical advice when something seems amiss, we will have made a significant impact," she added.
Ovarian Cancer Australia emphasizes the lack of an early detection test, making awareness even more vital. Symptoms such as persistent bloating, pelvic pain, and frequent urination should not be ignored. Residents are encouraged to consult their GP if these symptoms persist.
Support is readily available through the Ovarian Cancer Australia helpline at 1300 660 334. Remember, early detection can save lives.
